Micro Mid-Year Reset

confidence executive presence imposter syndrome Jul 08, 2026

The EOFY rush is behind us. The deadlines have eased. Summer holidays or winter escapes are underway.

Which makes this the perfect time for a 10-minute reset.

Not a complete life overhaul or an ambitious plan you'll feel guilty about in three weeks. Just a moment to pause, tell yourself the truth, and back yourself.

1. THE "JUST ADMIT IT" LIST

We all have things we quietly know about ourselves but keep pretending aren't true.

They bounce around in the back of our minds as we dodge and weave them, quietly draining our energy. We use them as evidence against ourselves. They fuel imposter thoughts, reinforce self-doubt, and keep us playing smaller than we're capable of.

So, finish this sentence a few times:

If I'm honest, I ...

  • If I'm honest, I lose momentum once the excitement of planning is over.
  • If I'm honest, I avoid difficult conversations longer than I should.
  • If I'm honest, I wait until I feel confident before putting myself forward.
  • If I'm honest, I overthink simple decisions.

No judgement. Just honesty. Awareness is where change begins.

>>  Now, Back Yourself

Rewrite each statement as an acceptance.

Not as toxic positivity or wishful thinking. As grounded self-awareness that allows you to work with yourself instead of against yourself.

Example:
Just Admit It:
"I lose momentum once the excitement of strategy and planning is over."

Back Yourself:
"I know my energy naturally drops once the planning phase ends, so I'll build accountability and small milestones into every project instead of relying on motivation."

Or...

"I know execution isn't where I naturally thrive, so I'll partner with or delegate to someone whose strengths complement mine, while staying engaged and supporting the outcome."

See the difference?
One labels who you are. The other helps you design how you'll succeed. Acceptance isn't giving up. It's giving yourself a better strategy.

(Inspired by Ben Crowe, Where the Light Gets In)

2. SUCCESS EVIDENCE LIST

Now let's shine a light on the evidence that you're already succeeding.

We spend so much time focusing on what still needs fixing that we rarely stop to recognise what success actually looks and feels like for us.

Complete this sentence several times:

I know I'm being successful when...

  • ...I'm having meaningful conversations that challenge my thinking.
  • ...I finish the day feeling energised rather than depleted.
  • ...I'm making decisions instead of avoiding them.
  • ...People seek out my advice or trust me with bigger opportunities.
  • ...I leave work knowing I made a genuine difference.

>> Now read through your list and ask yourself:

Which of these are within my control?

What could I do more often to create more moments like these?

Success isn't something that arrives one day. It's something you intentionally create through the choices you make every week.

3. ONE COMMITMENT

Forget ten goals.

Choose one commitment that would make Future You quietly proud.

Complete this sentence:

Over the next 30 days, I'm backing myself by...

Small actions. Repeated consistently. That's how confidence is built.

Reach out; I'd love to hear what commitment you've made.
