Visibility is career protection.

career executive branding personal brand visibility Jun 15, 2026

Right now, visibility is no longer a “nice to have.”
It’s career protection.

With redundancies rolling through organisations, restructures accelerating, and competition becoming fiercer at every level. The professionals creating opportunities for themselves are not always the smartest in the room. They’re the ones people remember.

Recently, one client requested a project secondment outside her normal scope. Not because it was easy. Because it increased her visibility with senior stakeholders. Promotion followed.

Another client said yes to MC’ing a global stakeholder event despite feeling wildly uncomfortable. Since then? Senior leaders across the business have started reaching out directly.

And another landed her ideal role because two years earlier, she intentionally built a mentor relationship with a senior leader who later became her champion in the rooms that mattered.

None of this happened by accident.
Visibility is built.
Strategically.
Consistently.
Over time.

And importantly, visibility is one of those things you need to start before you “feel” ready. Before you feel confident enough. Experienced enough. Interesting enough. Senior enough.

Because readiness is built through visibility, not before it.

Which raises the real question - what are YOU doing each week to stay visible in a fast-moving market?

Not performative visibility.
Strategic visibility.

The kind that builds trust, credibility, advocacy and opportunity.

Maybe it’s:
• Speaking once in the meeting instead of staying silent.
• Posting one insight on LinkedIn each fortnight.
• Reaching out to someone you admire internally.
• Saying yes to presenting instead of hiding behind delivery.
• Booking coffee with a stakeholder outside your immediate team.
• Sharing wins instead of minimising them.
• Asking for the project that stretches your exposure, not just your capability.

And most importantly, where does visibility live in your calendar?
Because if it’s not scheduled, it’s usually sacrificed.

The leaders building future-fit careers are intentionally creating time for:
• Relationship building
• Internal networking
• Thought leadership
• Strategic conversations
• Visibility moments
• Industry presence

Not once a year when panic hits.
Weekly.

Consistency is what builds reputation equity. Not one big post. Not one presentation. Not one networking event. Repeated visibility over time.

So I’ll leave you with this - if someone looked at your calendar right now…
Would they see evidence that you are building a visible, strategically connected career? Or, just evidence that you are very busy?

What visibility can you shape today?
